Prof. Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah is a former Rector of Sunyani Polytechnic and the current Vice President of the Anglican University College of Technology. He obtained his PhD in Environmental Science at Wye College, now known as the Imperial College of Wye, University of London, UK in 1991. He attended University of Ghana, Legon, in 1974 and obtained an undergraduate degree in Sociology with Political Science in 1977. He was employed as an Assistant Economic Planning Officer by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning immediately after the National Service as a Geography tutor at Sefwi Wiaso Senior High School in 1978. In 1979, he continued his graduate study in Regional Planning at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and obtained an MSc degree in 1981. He pursued another MSC degree programme in Resource Planning and a PhD in Environmental Science from Wye College, University of London.
Professor Nsiah-Gyabaahs’ career has centered on research and teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He has considerable experience and expertise in basic and applied research. He has undertaken several consultancies in rural development, poverty and related issues, renewable energy, HIV/ AIDS, Environment, Human security and Sustainable development for local and international agencies. Professor Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah has written many books and in 1992 he became the proud author of the book entitled: Environmental Degradation and Desertification in Ghana, a well-researched and widely read book published by Avebury in UK. Professor Kwasi Nsiah-Gyabaah is an External Examiner for several Universities and a member of many local and international research and development agencies.
Professor Nsiah-Gyabaah is the first Chairperson of GlovyVel School.
